Secret Fungi

Created by Willoughby Arevalo & Isabelle Kirouac
in collaboration with elementary and secondary students

Secret Fungi is a series of imaginary fungi stuffies made of mushroom dyied cotton and filled with living mycelium. These stuffies are either secretly installed in the schoolyard, waiting to be discovered and fruit edible mushrooms, or installed in a fruiting chamber to document their fruiting and decay process through timelapse video. Past projects include two timelapse videos (Mountainside/SmanitaXan Secondary, Whytecliff Agile Learning Centre) and two garden installations (Mitchell Elementary, Anderson Elementary). These projects have been supported by ArtStarts and North Van Arts.
